Test Chamber 3.7

Going around in circles is not usually required to solve tasks but in the case of Test Chamber, it might be mandatory.

In Test Chamber you are an unknowing little man with a square-ish head, perfect for pushing square blocks in an orthogonal fashion. Your aim is to reach the exit point in order to continue to the next level in a seemingly pointless endeavor. The occasional bystander (also featuring square heads) will make sure to express his fatalist view on this world. Which is not to blame in all honesty. Not only that the levels are fairly hard to complete, but the nature of the playing field is rather repetitive. That is a level wraps around itself so that if you manage to create a path out of it you will come back on the other side.

This takes us to the more psychedelic nature of Test Chamber. Since there are no walls to restrict vision or movement, you will generally see multiple copies of everything in all directions. This besides looking somewhat disorienting at first, is actually pretty helpful for establishing a clearer picture of where you're actually at and where blocks are situated.

Pushing a block off a ledge will drop it into infinity. No it doesn't fall from the sky, although it could but it would form an infinite loop but we don't want that since it's distracting and you've probably also lost the level doing it. Fitting blocks between ledges will make them into bridges. That is valuable information, friends. Of course in time levels will make it so hard for you to fit them properly that you will unwillingly remain staring at the screen with a concerned look on your face. Can you help that cute little square head get to his destiny, or will you abandon him in search for some instant gratification elsewhere? That is the question.

Conclusion

Test Chamber plays on the idea of Sokoban, but instead of pushing boxes in their place you will use them to reach seemingly unreachable spots. Quite the innovation, I must say.
